Ballet dancer, ballet master, ballet director of the Hungarian National Ballet, choreographer of Faust-Walzer
Tamás Solymosi studied the art of ballet at the Hungarian Dance Academy, the Vaganova Ballet Academy in Saint Petersburg, and in Monte Carlo. Having graduated as a ballet artist, he also trained as a ballet teacher and choreographer in the early 2000s. Due to his international appearances, he was mostly a guest at the Hungarian National Ballet. He was a guest artist on stages of the Miami, the Chicago and the Osaka Ballet, he was a returning guest of the English National Ballet at the Festival Hall and the Royal Albert Hall. He was a principal of the Vienna State Opera, the Dutch National Ballet, the Semperoper Dresden and the ballet company of the New York Metropolitan. In 1992, he toured Australia with the Nureyev and Friends touring company. Audiences applauded him at the Bolshoi in Moscow, at the Opera in Munich and Vienna as well as in Santiago de Chile. In 2006 he began to work in Hungary again when he took up the position of deputy headmaster at the Hungarian Dance Academy. Beside his appointment as a teacher, since 2011 (first as acting, from 2013 as appointed) ballet director, the managing of the Hungarian National Ballet has been in focus of his career.
