Ferenc Anger started his music education in his town of birth, Szeged. As a member of the Hungarian State Opera Chorus he majored in theatrical sciences at the University of Theatre and Film Arts. Later he studies theatrical direction at the IUAV in Venice. He graduated with his production of Verdi’s Otello at the Szeged National Theatre in 2008 with José Cura singing the title role twice. He is a returning guest at this theatre: he has put on stage Mozart’s Le nozze di Figaro, Rossini’s Le comte Ory, Don Sanche, ou Le château de l'amour by Liszt, and his upcoming production there is Puccini’s Tosca in spring 2015. He has put on productions at the Hungarian State Opera, the Palace of Arts, the Margaret Island Open-Air Theatre, in Pécs and in Győr. In December 2014, he directed three one-act operas in the iTalian towns of Pisa and Chieti. His credits include the Hungarian translations of the libretti of several operas. In the 2014/15 season, his 2013 production of Ariadne auf Naxos by Strauss can be seen again. He also puts two rare operas on stage: The Rake’s Progress by Stravinsky and Farnace by Vivaldi.
