Roland Liebich learnt the secrets of the art of ballet at the Hungarian Dance Academy under the guidance of such masters as Tibor Eichner, Sándor Perlusz, József Forgách or Gyula Sárközi. In 1997, he attended a summer course at the renowned Palluca School in Dresden, whose pillars are classical, modern and improvised dances. Having graduated, he joined the Hungarian National Ballet in 1999. Beside great classical pieces such as Swan Lake, The Nutcracker, Romeo and Juliet, The Miraculous Mandarin and La Bayadère, he regularly stars in several contemporary choreographies like Whirling, On the Nature of Daylight, The Karamazovs or Troy Game. He has toured in many countries of Europe and he appeared on stage in China and Mexico. In 2003, he was awarded first price at the Saint Xavier Choreographer Competition (with Marianna Venekei). In 2014, he received the Gyula Harangozó Award.
