18:30 – 19:30 Dalszínház StreetBall
Sena Dagadu is known by everyone who has ventured into the night life of Budapest even once or has attended any festival in the past ten years. Her debut album, First One became a milestone in Hungarian hip-hop. Ten years later, Lots of Trees became one of the most versatile and exciting albums that is bound together by the magnificent personality of Sena. The singer born in Accra, Ghana plunged into the Budapest music scene in 2001, and soon she became of the leading band of underground hip-hop and dancehall, Gimmeshot Crew. Besides, with the dynamism so characteristic of her, she tried everything from funkjazz (Kamu) to the Sonnets by Shakespeare. Her ability to identify herself with any kind of music virtually enthralled her fellow-musicians. She is a frequent guest of different DJ and band productions with a set programme or freestyle improvisation with the use of her own lyrics, poems and songs. Although she has never received any formal music education, her sensitive hearing makes her able to react to anything she hears. Her voice is made really unique by her original, self-taught style. Work on Sena’s second album began in 2008 with Péter Sabák and Márton Élő. In 2011, a group of French producers joined the team and in March 2013 it was published: a real pop album of international standard which reflect the hip-hop roots of Sena. It also proves that Sena is as good an r’n’b singer as an electro diva.
