Gentle melodies before midnight: piano recital by Mihály Berecz.

Mihály Berecz, born in 1997, started to play the violin at the age of seven, two years later the piano. He still gets violin lessons, plays in an orchestra, moreover, he composes music. His development is mentored by such a renowned figure as Zoltán Kocsis, under whose direction he was a soloist of Piano Concerto in G major by Ravel at the Palace of Arts. Apart from giving numerous concerts in Hungary, he appeared as a guest in Košice, Bratislava, Prague and the Young Euro Classic Festival in Berlin. In 2014, he attended the master class of internationally acclaimed pianist, Malcolm Bilson. In spite of his young age, Mihály has received several awards. In 2011, he received the Niveau Prize at the 3rd Bartók Béla Music School piano competition as well as a special award for the best rendering of a Bartók piece. A year later he received a gold medal at the International Youth Festival, in 2014 he received a special performer’s award at the 6th National Composer Competition.
