Krisztián Cser was born into a musician family, he studied as an opera singer at the University of Sciences, Szeged and the Liszt Ferenc Music Academy. His teachers included István Andrejcsik, Éva Marton, Balázs Kovalik, László Polgár, Johannes von Duisburg. He made his debut as an oratorio singer in 1998 in Bach’s St John Passion. His repertoire ranges from early baroque compositions to contemporary music. He has sung under the baton of such renowned international and Hungarian conductors as Pierre Cao, Helmuth Rilling, Peter Schreier as well as Tibor Bogányi, Zsolt Hamar, Zoltán Kocsis, Ádám Fischer, Zoltán Peskó, György Vashegyi or Tamás Vásáry. He regularly gives concert in Hungary and abroad. In 2004, he won the 4th József Simándy Singing Competition. He was a finalist at the 2008 Monserrat Caballé Singing Competition, he was awarded a special prize at the 2009 Geneva Singing Competition. On 15 March 2010, he received the Youth of March Award from the Hungarian Government. In 2011, he won a scholarship from the Wagner Society. As an opera singer he made his debut in Spoleto as Don Magnifico. He reprised this role on a Japanese tour. Between 2008 and 2010 he won a scholarship from the Hungarian State Opera, since then he is a returning guest artist. Apart from starring in several popular repertoire pieces, in the 2014/15 season of the Opera he appears in to premieres, Der Freischütz and Das Rheingold.
