Guest of the Faust Ball are not only offered various music and dance programmes, they are invited to the science displays in different rooms of the Opera House.
Hungary has always been proud of her scientists, researchers and inventors whose work not only increased the reputation of the nation world-wide but helped the development of civilization, the prosperity of humankind. Without such inventions as the transformer, the dynamo, the carburettor, the ball-point pen or holograms, the world today might be a different place, Moreover, the standard of everyday life was also improved by the researches on vitamin C by Albert Szent-Györgyi.
At the ball of arts and sciences guests may get information primarily on the innovations of the past years, but classic inventions like the torsion pendulum (by Loránd Eötvös) or a reconstructed replica of the speaking machine created by Wolfgang Kempelen are also on display. Guest can get further knowledge on iPads as well as try different applications. The exhibition features a light microscope, a machine that builds pyramids, a model of a lunar vehicle, and the “Gömböc”, but such strange objects are also on display as a pasta bridge or illuminating clothes designed especially for the Faust Ball, which were inspired by the Northern lights of Iceland.
