Dancer, choreographer, dance teacher, and choreographer of the "Palotás" dance
Marcell Zsámboki is an individual of many and diverse accomplishments. In 1996 he earned a diploma with honours in social dance pedagogy from the Hungarian Dance Academy, followed in 2003 with a law degree from Pázmány Péter Catholic University's Faculty of Law and Political Sciences. In the course of his career, he has won countless awards both in Hungary and abroad as a dancer and choreographer alike, including being named Dancer of the Year on several occasions. Audiences have been able to view his work in such pieces as Carramba, La cage aux folles, Gloria and Harem. This latter won him the Award of Excellence for "Most Original Choreographer in 2005. He has worked at the Hungarian Dance Academy since 1999 and has been a university instructor since 2009. His area of research is naturally dance, but has focused on dance as a form of metacommunication, movement and performance analyses of dance competitions, as well as the history of social dance in Hungary.
