Donát Hegyesi, the young inventor used to do a lot of DIY and played with Lego. At the age of fourteen, self-taught he started to learn programming. The combination of these two spare-time activities resulted in such miracles as the Smart Clock, a LED Cube or a 3D Miller. He became interested in poker at the age of fifteen, and soon he realized that it is more than a game of pure chance and using mathematical methods, a profitable strategy may be worked out. During a friendly poker match he began to view the process of the game from an entirely different point of view. He noticed that some procedures can be automated. “By the end of the game a robot took shape in my mind that is able to join the match and make its own decisions.” He completed the Poker Robot in the course of two years, he himself designing both the hardware and the software components. In 2013, the first prototype received first prize at the Scientific and Innovation Talent Recruitment Contest for Youth as well as several Hungarian and international Prizes afterwards. In 2014, as the only Hungarian among 1800 entries, his invention brought him second prize at the SINTEL ISEF Awards in the United States.
